Empower yourself (or someone you love) with the reality-based women’s self-defense workshop. During this 8-hour intensive class, you’ll learn simple, effective self-defense techniques how and apply them in real situations.
The Women’s Self-Defense Workshop a Weekend workshop provides training in both psychological and physical self-defense techniques. The A.C.T. Women’s Self-Defense program is NOT a martial arts program, nor is it a fighting system. Most martial arts programs do not expressly address violence against women, which is distinctly different than male-on-male violence. Cost should not be a barrier to a woman learning how to defend herself.

The Warrior Women curriculum is designed to improving your assessment of the risk of sexual assault by male acquaintances and equip you with strategies to reduce perpetrator advantages. This includes better identifying the danger in situations that have turned coercive, and developing skills to resist verbal coercion. Effective, easy to learn physical self-defense is taught so you can get away when there is no other option.
The Warrior Women’s Self-Defense Workshop is taught by women and starts with escapes from common grabs, which are typically the predecessor to a more violent attack. Next is delivering powerful strikes so you can get way safely, and last is getting up from the ground, and getting up when someone is on top of you. The last portion of each day is an optional reality-based aggressor session.
In the aggressor sessions, the male co-instructor simulates a real attack while wearing a protective RedMan Instructor suit. Co-instructors are high-ranking martial arts practitioners, so they are well-versed in simulating attacks without injuring. The protective instructor suit allows workshop participants to experience distress “tunnel vision” and safely use full speed and strength to get away.
Who Should Attend?
Statistically females age 15 to 25 are primary targets for robbers and rapists, who try to capitalize on the perceived inability for their victims to see the attack coming and avoid it or know how to defend themselves when under attack. It is so important that all females age 15 to 25 attend. Mothers are strongly encouraged to attend with their minor daughters who are age 12 and up.
While females age 15 to 25 are primary targets, all women are targets for criminals seeking to exploit their power. As excellent physical condition is not a requirement for the workshop, any woman age over age 25 who can do one jumping jack should attend.
Girls age 15-17 may participate with parental permission. Due to some of the mature content, girls age 12 to 14 may participate with a parent or guardian. Please see all of our class and workshop terms and conditions.
